From Misty Mountain Slopes to Your Cup
Welcome to Tribes African Coffee — where every sip tells the story of Uganda. We are more than a café. We are an education, a celebration, and a bridge between the farmers who nurture the land and the people who savor the cup.
If you love coffee, you need to visit. We invite you to learn about Uganda’s legendary coffee regions while sipping a Sipi Falls pour-over, tasting Robusta powder from Fort Portal, or enjoying Arabica beans from Mt. Rwenzori. Our traditional coffee ceremony is beautiful. Our snacks, soft drinks, and combo promos are crafted with care. This is how you build trust and rank as the best coffee experience in Uganda.
Our Story
Tribes African Coffee was born from a simple belief: Uganda grows some of the world’s finest coffee, yet its own people rarely get to taste it with pride.
For decades, the vast majority of Ugandan coffee — especially premium Arabica from Mount Elgon and Mt. Rwenzori — was exported raw. Green beans left the country, were roasted abroad, and returned as expensive imported coffee. Our farmers rarely saw the finished product. Our communities rarely experienced the joy of a truly excellent local brew.
We decided to change that.
We started small, building relationships with smallholder farmers in Uganda’s premier coffee regions. We learned their names, their families, and their farming practices. We invested in on-site roasting so that beans could be roasted the same week they were harvested. We opened our first café in Bulaga, Wakiso — a warm, welcoming space where anyone could taste the difference that fresh, locally roasted coffee makes.
Today, Tribes African Coffee is proud to be a fully Ugandan-owned and operated roastery and café. We source directly, roast locally, and serve authentically.
Our Mission
To celebrate and elevate Ugandan coffee by connecting farmers directly to drinkers — with transparency, quality, and deep respect for tradition.
We believe that:
Farmers deserve fair prices and long-term partnerships.
Drinkers deserve fresh, traceable coffee with honest flavor.
Uganda deserves a coffee culture that is proud, educated, and joyful.
Our Values
🌱 Direct Trade
We buy coffee directly from smallholder farmers and farmer cooperatives in Sipi Falls (Mount Elgon), Fort Portal, and Mt. Rwenzori. No middlemen. No exploitation. Just fair prices and mutual respect.
🔥 Fresh Roasting
All our coffee is roasted in Uganda, at our Bulaga roastery. We roast in small batches, typically within 7 days of brewing. You can taste the difference.
📖 Education
We don’t just serve coffee — we teach it. From our café conversations to our brewing workshops and traditional ceremonies, we want every guest to leave knowing more about where their coffee came from and how to brew it well.
🤝 Community
We support the communities that grow our coffee. A portion of every sale goes back to farmer training, school supplies for coffee-growing families, and local economic development.
🏺 Tradition
The Ugandan coffee ceremony — served from a clay pot (jebena) into small cups (finjans) — is a ritual of hospitality, respect, and storytelling. We preserve and share this tradition with every guest who walks through our doors.
Our Coffee Regions
We source from three of Uganda’s most exceptional growing areas:
☕ Sipi Falls – Mount Elgon
Altitude: 1,600 – 1,900 meters
Varieties: Arabica (SL14, SL28)
Flavor profile: Bright acidity, floral aroma, notes of wild berry and citrus
Our Sipi Falls pour-over is the café’s signature brew — clean, complex, and unforgettable.
⛰️ Mt. Rwenzori (Rwenzori Mountains)
Altitude: 1,500 – 2,100 meters
Varieties: Arabica (Nyasaland, Blue Mountain)
Flavor profile: Chocolatey, full-bodied, with hints of caramel and dried fruit
Perfect for French press or milk coffee.
🌍 Fort Portal – Kibale / Rwenzori Foothills
Altitude: 1,200 – 1,500 meters
Varieties: Robusta (high-quality, not bitter)
Flavor profile: Earthy, bold, high caffeine, with a smooth finish
Our Robusta is nothing like the harsh Robusta you may have tried elsewhere. Grown at higher altitudes and carefully processed, it’s smooth, rich, and ideal for traditional ceremonies or espresso blends.

We are a small, passionate team of Ugandan coffee lovers — baristas, roasters, farmers, and storytellers.
Founder: A Ugandan coffee advocate who grew up watching coffee leave the country and dreamed of bringing it back, roasted and ready.
Head Roaster: Trained in specialty coffee with over 10 years of experience roasting for Ugandan and international palates.
Lead Barista: Certified in brew methods and traditional ceremonies — your guide to the perfect cup.
Farmer Partners: Over 50 smallholder families across Sipi Falls, Fort Portal, and Mt. Rwenzori.
“We know our farmers by name. We want to know you, too.”
Our Commitment to Quality
We don’t cut corners. Every batch of coffee is:
Hand-sorted to remove defects
Roasted in small batches (5–15 kg) for precision
Cupped (taste-tested) before it reaches our café or your bag
Brewed with filtered water and proper temperatures
If you’re not happy with your coffee, we want to know. Your feedback makes us better.
Recognition & Trust
We are proud to be recognized as one of the best coffee experiences in Uganda — not because of awards, but because of the trust our guests and farmers place in us.
“I learned about Uganda’s coffee regions while sipping a Sipi Falls pour-over. Bought Robusta powder from Fort Portal and Arabica beans from Mt. Rwenzori. Their traditional ceremony is beautiful. Also great soft drinks, snacks, and combo promos. This is how you build trust and rank as the best in Uganda.”
